Lori's updated feeding course, Navigating the Feeding Journey: A Sensory Motor Approach will focus on the task analysis of the underlying oral sensory motor skills to support safe, nutritive feeding. This information will be used to support assessment and treatment of complex feeding disorders. This course will include:

  • New research which enhances our understanding of sensory processing and the interaction of the sensory and motor systems
  • Pre-feeding exercises designed to develop the motor skills to support  safe, effective nutritive feeding and therapeutic feeding techniques
  • Two evaluations and program plans, as well as interactive sensory and feeding practicums!

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and define the developmental acquisition of feeding skills.
  2. Identify individual oral-phase feeding deficiencies.
  3. List at least 4 goals of an SLP-administered oral-motor feeding program.
  4. Explain the benefits of improved oral movement in cases of oral-phase feeding deficiencies.
